If you hire a pest control company, then you are hoping they will make your life easier and not harder. But that’s not always the case.
In a best-case scenario, not only will they solve your bug problems, but they will be a dream to work with!
In the worst-case scenario, they will be a nightmare to work with, AND they will not solve your bug problems.
This simple guide will help you to increase your chances of living the dream. And avoiding the nightmare!
Here are the questions you should ask when you are hiring a pest control company.
What is your specialty?
Usually, when you call a pest control company, you will start by telling them all about your problems. If you do this some salespeople will tell you that what you need is their specialty. Even if it is not true. Some will do this, but not all.
Ask them what they specialize in. Do this before telling them what is currently bothering you. It will help you to make a determination if they might be a good fit. Or not.
What would you do in X situation? Before you call the company, make two shortlists. One is a list of what you like about your current company and the other one is a list of what you do not like. In other words, make a quick list of things that you want to change. And another quick list of things that you want to stay the same!
You then ask a few questions about how the company would handle the things that you do not like. You can get a feeling of whether that’s something that is a good fit for you.
You can then ask a few questions about what you like and do not want to lose! The things that you like, and do not want to lose. And you can get a feel for whether they do the same. Or maybe worse? Or maybe better?
You do not want to lose what you like and get more of what you do not like. Instead, you want to keep what you like and improve on what you do not like. This simple exercise can really help make sure that happens!
If it doesn’t work, then what are my options? For example, if you’re hiring a company to get rid of ants, you can ask, if it does not get rid of my ants, then what happens? Most companies stand behind their work with a warranty.
OK, but what if they come back under warranty and they still cannot solve the problem? What’s the worst-case scenario? Is there a cancellation fee?
If there is a cancellation fee, it’s not the end of the world. Most companies lose money upfront. So they will charge a cancellation fee to help them to minimize the loss. But it is important for you to know what the worst-case scenario is going to be.
These are the three simple questions you can ask to help make sure it is a great fit with your new Pest Control company!
What is your specialty? If you can, ask them what they do before you tell them what you need.
How do you handle X situations? Ask them about situations that come from 2 lists. What you want to change and what you want to keep.
What if it does not work? (Will you come back for free? And if it still does not work is there a fee to cancel? And how much is that fee?)
The interesting thing about Pest Control is that it’s all about having the right fit. You and your next-door neighbor might have the same taste in just about everything.
But the pest control company that is a great fit for you might be a terrible fit for them. And the company that is a great fit for them might be a terrible fit for you
